Bearing his pencil, Nate Libby created vibrant universes that celebrated powerful women with his own playful twist. Often bringing a joyful chuckle to onlookers, Nate's work was a reflection of his cheerful demeanor and it was a fraction of the emotional wealth that resided in his heart.
For myself and many others, Nate served as a reminder that the web of life works in mysterious ways. Two strangers can enter a coffee shop and leave as the dearest of friends, much like "The Little Prince", when the Prince meets the fox. At first meeting, the boy and his fox are nothing to each other. But over time and with loving tenderness, the boy "tames" the fox and they grow to need one another, seeing each other as unique in the world.
In this way, strangers become friends and friends can equally become strangers. And although the tides change and the sun rises and sets, once the dust settles the memories remain.
As a collector of memories, I hold onto people and moments that cross the gaze of my lens with a deep sense of appreciation and responsibility.
Working from the edges inward and following the direction that the light casts itself into the frame, I aim to illuminate each subject as they are, with the utmost care.
